All-Stars Across Industries and IPZ Team Members Honor FDNY

FDNY Foundation Hosts Annual FDNY All-Star Event

Legends from the worlds of sports, television, radio and the arts came together with longtime friends of the FDNY and business leaders to support the Department and mark the 16th anniversary of September 11th at the annual FDNY All-Star event on Thurs., Sept. 14.

“None of us can ever forget that terrible morning and the unimaginable losses we suffered,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro. “We will never forget the bravery displayed or the tremendous sacrifice made by so many so that others could live. And though the pain of that day will always remain with us, I also vividly remember the times that followed – the outpouring of support from so many across the city and around the world. Countless times, so many of you honored our members, showed your appreciation for their work, visited with our families and gave us moments to celebrate and cheer once again. Those positive memories are part of what makes this event so special.”

“Thank you to all of our celebrity friends for being with us today, for taking time out of your busy schedules and continuing to be such amazing friends and supporters to the FDNY,” said FDNY Chief of Department James Leonard. “The teams in our city and the many sports leagues have all shown support to the FDNY over the years. You have supported us in the days after September 11th, and you are still here today. We are all huge fans and appreciate you remembering the members of the FDNY now and in the past through your actions.”

The event was hosted by Sports Radio host and good friend to the FDNY, Mike Francesca, at the New York City Fire Museum in Manhattan. A luncheon with Francesa was followed by a broadcast of WFAN’s “Mike’s On” radio show from the Fire Museum.

Darryl Strawberry, John Starks, John Franco, Bobby Burke, Calen Carr, Jeff Curtin, Keith Elias, Jim Fassel, Nelson Figueroa, Kym Hampton, Famke Janssen, Sukanya Krishnan, Jim Leyritz, Deirdre Lovejoy, Madeleine Martin, John Plunkett, Chris Snee, Charles Way, Chris Weidman and Brian Williams were among the celebrities who turned out to honor the anniversary and the members of the FDNY, as well as to support the FDNY Foundation.

The All-Star event is one of the highlights of the year for the FDNY Foundation and serves as one of its biggest fundraisers. Support from the Foundation allows the Department to fund awareness and outreach programs, fire and life safety education across the city, as well as FDNY member training and new technology and equipment.

“This incredible event brings us together to mark a somber anniversary, but also to celebrate the bravery of the men and women of the FDNY and the support the Department has received from so many in our community,” said FDNY Foundation Vice Chairman Robert Zito. “Our partners and supporters work tirelessly to make sure we have the funds we need to help its members keep New Yorkers safe.”

“We’re here to reminisce about great moments, create new ones and work together to support this great Department that we all love,” said Commissioner Nigro. “By supporting the FDNY Foundation, each of you is truly supporting the Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs of the FDNY who go into harm’s way day after day to keep this city safe.”

KELLON THOMAS SIGNS WITH IPZ

IUPUI Guard Chooses to be Represented by InterperformancesUSA

WARREN, NJ, May 15, 2017 – Kellon Thomas, a key player for the Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Jaguars this past season, has signed with InterperformancesUSA (IPZ), the company announced today.

The 5-foot-11 guard returned to his hometown of Indianapolis, IN, to finish out his collegiate basketball career after playing three seasons at Kent State University. As a junior for the Golden Flashes, Thomas led the team in minutes played (31.5 mpg), assists (81), three-pointers made (45), and free throws made (106), while being the only player to start all 32 contests. Thomas’ 12.3 points per game was second best for Kent State.

While a senior at IUPUI, Thomas averaged 9.5 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game. He scored a single-game career high of 25 points against the University of Omaha when Thomas was a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line on February 8, 2017. Thomas’ 85 assists were second best on the team and his 90 percent accuracy from the stripe was 14th best in the country.

IPZ Team Gets Together To Celebrate Students

Members of the IPZ leadership team and board of advisors attended the annual Cento Amici scholarship dinner.

Cento Amici (100 Friends) is a community-based, member organization dedicated to providing need-based scholarship assistance to qualified students in New Jersey. Its mission is to enhance the educational opportunities for those who need it most and who are most under-served by existing need-based programs.

JACK GRIFFIN SIGNS WITH IPZ

Missouri State Soccer Captain Joins InterperformancesUSA    

WARREN, NJ, February 8, 2017 — Jack Griffin, a central midfielder who made an impact for the Missouri State University Bears since his freshman debut, has signed with InterperformancesUSA (IPZ), the company announced today.

The Beverley, England native was a mainstay in the Bears’ lineup playing in 71 of the Bears’ 73 matches during his tenure. Jack is known for his leadership and as captain his senior season, he led the team to a successful campaign.

Griffin compiled numerous honors beginning in his freshman year when he was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team. The following season, Griffin received an All-MVC Honorable Mention. In 2015, he was the only Bear to be named to the All-MVC First Team and he capped off his senior campaign in 2016 with All-MVC Second Team honors. Griffin was also selected to the All-West Region Third Team twice, in 2015 and 2016.

“I really like the way InterperformancesUSA is run, I believe that I am genuinely cared for and it feels like I have joined a family,” said Griffin. “I am very excited to see where this can go, I feel we will achieve great things throughout this relationship and I cannot be more grateful to be a part of IPZ.”

Jeff Curtin Named Managing Director of IPZ

WARREN, NJ, February 2, 2017 –  Jeff Curtin, previously the managing director of InterperformancesUSA’s (IPZ) soccer group, will add responsibility for the day-to-day management of the firm, effective immediately.

Curtin will also remain the managing director of the soccer division. He will continue reporting to IPZ Managing Partner Robert Zito.

“I am excited and honored to take on the role as Managing Director of IPZ. Bob has put together an exceptional team and I am truly happy to be a part of it,” said Curtin. “IPZ has built its foundation on integrity and family, two principles that are at the core of who I am and what I value as an individual. I am convinced that we will capitalize on our early momentum and be a true resource and partner for our clients.”

Curtin was an All-American soccer player at Georgetown University, where he earned his B.S. in Business Management. He was the 14th overall selection in the 2006 Major League Soccer Super Draft.  In his first year with the Chicago Fire, he was a member of the Fire team that won the U.S. Open Cup.

Following two seasons with the Fire, Curtin moved on to D.C. United before injuries ended his career.

Curtin’s passion for sports never ceased, as he conducted both coaching and training clinics for numerous top level youth clubs, including the youth development programs of the Chicago Fire and Philadelphia Union.

“Jeff has hit the ground running with IPZ and his willingness to assist with the management of the firm will help fuel our growth,” said Zito. “His knowledge of sports beyond soccer has been evident, along with his commitment to IPZ’s values of integrity and family.”

BILLY MCCONNELL: THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE IPZ FAMILY

Indiana University Soccer Standout Chooses InterperformancesUSA

WARREN, NJ, January 31, 2017 — Billy McConnell, a top defender for the Indiana University Hoosiers soccer team the past three years, has chosen InterperformancesUSA (IPZ) for representation, the company announced today.

McConnell is a 5-foot-10 defender from Richboro, PA and led the Indiana defense that posted 11 shutouts in the 2016, a Big Ten best. Also during his senior year, he scored the game-winning goal on a header against #23 Akron in the NCAA Tournament. McConnell tallied three goals, two assists, and 10 points to go along with a shooting percentage of .429. The Hoosiers ranked as high as #4 during the 2016 season.

In McConnell’s junior campaign, he started all 21 matches, which included 10 shutouts. He was named to the Mike Berticelli All-Tournament Team in 2014. Going into his first year with Indiana, McConnell was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Best XI Freshman Team.
