IPZ’S NEWEST FAMILY MEMBER: MADISON JONES

Seton Hall Point Guard Signs with InterperformancesUSA

WARREN, NJ, May 16, 2017  Madison Jones, the court general that led the Seton Hall Pirates this past season, has chosen InterperformancesUSA (IPZ) for representation, the company announced today.

The 6-foot-2 point guard began his collegiate career at Wake Forest University which is under two hours away from his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. Jones broke into the starting lineup as a freshman. In all three seasons with the Demon Deacons, Jones consistently found himself in the top two for the team’s most assists and steals (he was first in this category twice). As a junior, he ranked among the ACC leaders with a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Jones transferred to Seton Hall University for the 2016-17 season and played in all 33 contests, starting 31 of them. His 58 steals led the Pirates and were third best in the Big East. Jones topped The Hall in both assists (104, ninth in the Big East) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6, eighth in the Big East). Called the “head” by teammates, Jones led the Pirates to their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

“I am so happy to be a part of the IPZ family,” said Jones. “I have dreamed about being a professional basketball player since I was a young boy. I can’t thank God enough for this amazing opportunity.”

“Meeting Madison and his parents during this process was rewarding for me,” said Robert Zito, Managing Partner of IPZ. “Madison comes from a great family with dedicated parents and siblings who are serving our country. His leadership on the court at Seton Hall was exemplary. And his relationship with a great coach and staff, phenomenal. I’m thrilled we have the opportunity to work with him.”

How To Make It Overseas

Randy Reed Shares His Story on Becoming a Professional Basketball Player

Prior to signing with IPZ, Randy Reed was persistent in his pursuit of making his dream come true – to become a professional basketball player.

Reed finished out his collegiate career at the University of Omaha in March 2016, but knew he wasn’t ready for his time on the hardwood to come to a close.

One year later, his dream is a reality.

Reed signed a professional contract with Jeunesse Sportive d’El Menzah in September 2016. Since arriving in Tunisia in early October, Reed has put together an impressive rookie season, averaging more than 20 points per game. In February, he was selected to the all-star game in which the best foreign players squared off against the Tunisian National Team.

He shared his formula on “How to Make it Overseas.”

  1. Immediately after finishing college career, get a highlight tape and full game film.
  1. Get in contact with agents, owners, consultants, and players, gathering as much information as possible.
  1. Go to an exposure camp. If you perform well at your first, only play in that one and be sure to get film from it. It’s not recommended to participate in more than two.
  1. After finding an agent, wait patiently and grind. Grind every single day. Do a ton of research on the different styles and rules of FIBA basketball.

As a rookie without the biggest college or the greatest stats, it can be very frustrating, but you have to trust God and trust the process. Stay humble and stay hungry. Remember the dream and learn from the people before you that seeing another country for an extended period of time is incredible. A lot of people never leave their state – let alone the country – and even less people are able to play the sport they love professionally.

Hurley Family Values…IPZ Family Values

As the University of Rhode Island Rams play their second round matchup of the NCAA Tournament versus the Oregon Ducks tonight, the IPZ family is rooting for Rhody! Coached by Dan Hurley – son of IPZ Board Member Bob Hurley – URI earned its way to the tournament by winning the A10 Championship a week ago, and advanced to the round of 32 following their 84-72 victory against Creighton in the first round of the tournament on St. Patrick’s Day.

Hurley family values: Rhode Island batters and beats Creighton in NCAA tournament

SACRAMENTO — Hurley spent his formative years learning basketball from one of its greatest teachers: his father, Bob Hurley Sr., the Naismith Hall of Fame coach of the legendary St. Anthony High Friars in Jersey City. And while the Friars have produced plenty of big-name players over the years — including Dan and his brother, Bobby — the fundamental values of the program have never changed: namely, that basketball games are won through ferocity, intensity, physicality and a commitment to defense.

Those are the values Dan Hurley has taken with him to the various stops in his own coaching career, beginning at St. Benedict’s Prep in New Jersey, which he turned into a national power, before spending two years at Wagner College and then heading to the University of Rhode Island in 2012. Those are the values that propelled the Rams on Friday to their first NCAA tournament victory since 1998.

With his father and his brother Bobby watching from the stands, Hurley’s Rhode Island team, the No. 11 seed in the Midwest Region, battered and bruised No. 6 Creighton on its way to an 84-72 victory in the program’s first NCAA tournament appearance in 18 years. The Rams advanced to face No. 3 seed Oregon on Sunday for spot in the Sweet 16 and a trip to Kansas City next weekend.

“I think we’re built in the image of my family,” Hurley said. “Obviously, we’re all very intense, very passionate about basketball, very passionate about helping young people develop. And I think we also … this team reflects a little bit of the city I grew up in, Jersey City.
